Terms of Service

These terms are written to be read. If anything here is unclear, email [email protected] and a human will answer.

1. The service

EmberSuite is a set of business apps (Proposal, Track, Invoice, Books, and the Dash dashboard) provided as a hosted service. Access is currently by invitation. An account is for one business and the people it authorizes; you are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials private.

2. Your data is yours

• Everything you put into EmberSuite — clients, proposals, time, invoices, books — belongs to you.
• You can export your data at any time (CSV exports are built into the apps), and take it with you if you leave.
• We store your data on our servers to run the service, keep routine backups, and never sell it or share it with third parties except the processors needed to run the service (for example our hosting and, if you enable payments, Stripe).
• Client-facing links (proposals, quotes, invoices) are private URLs built from long random tokens (practically unguessable) that show only that one document. Anyone you send a link to can open that document; that is what the link is for.

3. Our software is ours

The EmberSuite software, design, and branding are proprietary to EmberStack. You get a license to use the service for your business. You may not copy, redistribute, resell, rehost, scrape, or reverse-engineer the software or any part of it, or use it to build a competing service. Your own data is of course excluded from this - see section 2.

4. Early access and pricing

During early access the service is free. Paid plans will be announced before anyone is charged anything, and you will always be able to export your data and close your account instead of paying.

5. Honest limits

• Numbers the apps derive - including the EmberBooks tax estimates - are planning tools, not accounting, tax, or legal advice. Confirm anything that matters with your accountant.
• The service is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it fast, correct, and available, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
• To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the six months before the claim (during free early access, that is zero).

6. Fair use and termination

Do not use the service to break the law, to send spam through client-facing links, or to attack the service itself. We can suspend accounts that do. You can close your account at any time; export your data first, and tell us if you would like your stored data deleted.

7. Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will post the new version here with a new effective date, and tell active users before it applies to them.
